On Monday 3 November, DCAF will be speaking at a session of the Annual General Meeting of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF).
The panel, organized by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, will explore how innovative multistakeholder initiatives – including the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPs) and the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Companies (ICoCA) – can contribute to building a more resilient and inclusive mining sector. By promoting smart partnerships between national authorities, companies, and civil society, these initiatives offer practical tools to prevent conflict, strengthen human rights due diligence, and enhance community trust in resource governance. The discussion will also examine how security and human rights frameworks can support long-term stability, responsible investment, and inclusive development across the mining value chain.
