Mozambique workshop on private security and human rights

Mozambique workshop on private security and human rights

On 27 July, DCAF supported the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CDD) in organizing a technical workshop on private security and human rights, within the scope of promoting implementation of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPs) in Mozambique.

The workshop was held in Pemba, Cabo Delgado Province where a regional VPs Working Group (RWG) was launched in 2022 to engage different actors affected by security and human rights challenges related to company operations in the region.

The workshop, organized in partnership with the Mozambique Ministry of Justice, featured speakers from DCAF and the International Code of Conduct Association, as well as Gemfields, Garda World and others, and enabled participants and the RWG to discuss the ways that companies can manage private security in their operations.
