Part of three case studies highlighting multistakeholder solutions found by the Voluntary Principles Working Group based in South Kivu between 2019 and 2020 in:
- Nyabibwe - Three cooperatives were in dispute over the operating license of a mining site. Violence had begun escalating and put a halt to mining, threatening the livelihoods of the local community. The VP Working Group intervened and supported a process of mediation between the cooperatives.
The WG intervention led to the mining cooperatives striking an agreement, allowing the mining site to reopen shortly after.
