Event report – Complex Security Environment: How can businesses operate responsibly?
On 23rd November, at EXPO 2020 Dubai, the ICRC organised a panel discussion to address challenges that companies face when they operate in fragile contexts.
During the session, the expert panel discussed the rights, obligations and responsibilities of companies whose activities are connected in one way or another with armed conflicts or complex security environments. By reaffirming that having conflict sensitivity in every business decision is critical, the panellists shared with participants guidance on how to develop business operations that, at a minimum, respect and do no additional harm to local stakeholders.
