Frameworks such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the new European Union Conflict Minerals Regulation, require businesses to improve their practices in such contexts. In addition, consumers are insistent on the need for companies to respect human rights. Two complementary initiatives can help ensure that security and human rights is at the heart of responsible supply chains: the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains.
