War, Law and Business: A free immersive e-learning module on international humanitarian law

Description

When companies operate in conflict-affected areas, they need to understand their rights and responsibilities under international humanitarian law (IHL) so that they can operate in a way that respects the rights and dignity of local communities.

To help current and future business leaders understand IHL and how to implement it in their operations, the Australian Red Cross and RMIT University recently launched a new interactive e-learning module entitled ‘War, Law and Business’.

This simulation places users in the shoes of the CEO of a fictitious company operating in a conflict zone. Along the way, they can learn about the basics of IHL and how to manage the unique risks associated with doing business in conflict-affected environments.

Although this training module has been designed for students in business-related disciplines, it is also suitable for company personnel and broader stakeholders who are working on the ‘business and human rights/IHL’ agenda.
